Idle, incremental, clicker and autobattler: what's the difference?

IdleServList Team · reviewed on 2026-10-11

Idle, incremental, clicker, autobattler: the names blend together, but each describes a different way to play. This guide explains the difference and helps you choose.

The four styles

Idle (hunting / idle RPG)
The character progresses on their own: hunts monsters, levels up and gets loot, including offline. You make decisions from time to time. View ranking
Incremental
The focus is on numbers that grow faster and faster: you invest resources to produce more resources. It usually features prestige. View incrementals
Clicker
A type of incremental where clicking is the main action, at least in the beginning, like in Cookie Clicker.
Autobattler
You assemble a team of heroes and battles happen on their own, in arenas, waves or towers. The challenge lies in team choice and combination. View autobattlers

Which one to choose

Why separate rankings

On IdleServList, each style has its own ranking: a single-player clicker and a hunting MMO aren't compared by the same numbers. This way, each game competes for position with similar games. Understand the rating in how ranking works.

Both: it's an autobattler with idle progress, where the team keeps accumulating rewards while you are away.
